The attraction they tried to ignore.
The feelings they didn’t understand yet.
The things they would never say out loud.

Across the three new paperback editions, you can unlock 300 pages of brand-new, exclusive opposite-POV bonus content featuring Bastien and Fleur.

A First Look

You remember the moment they met. Bastien remembers it a little differently.

Fleur knew a dangerous stranger had taken a seat at her bar.
She had no idea he’d gone completely still the second he saw her.

“What can I get you?”

My eyes shifted to the waitress so I could order my stiff drink, but instead I paused, turned absolutely still as I looked at the woman that just spoke to me. Must have been three seconds but it felt like a minute. With long, deep auburn brown hair and a long sleeve, low cut top, her fair skin had a distinct glow, and her eyes had a sparkle that reminded me of the lights from the Eiffel Tower. “Scotch, on the rocks. Make it a double.”

“You got it.” She immediately grabbed the bottle and got to work.

I continued to invade her space with my stare, look at her without the need to blink, completely drawn to a stranger like she was a long-lost lover. Paris was a feast of beautiful women, but it was rare for any of them to capture my focus the way she did, especially when I was still mad as hell. I wasn’t sure exactly what it was exactly—her confidence, her posture, or the fact she was just fucking stunning.

She placed the drink on the counter. “Let me know if you need another. I’ll be around.” She immediately turned around to move to the other side of the bar, dismissing me like I was like any other person sitting in the bar that night. Didn’t flirt with me because she was interested—or because she wanted a tip.

I brought the drink to my lips as my eyes dropped down to her plump ass in those skin-tight jeans. “Fuck."

Another Side of Bastien

Some moments hit differently when you know what the other person was thinking.

He told himself Fleur wasn’t his problem.
Then he showed up at her apartment with blueberry pancakes anyway.

“What’s in the bag?”

I could have sat there with her for hours and not said a word. I was perfectly content to be in her space, even on her worst day. “Those pancakes you like.”

Her beautiful expression softened, and her eyes momentarily darted between mine like she needed another second to process the thoughtful gesture.

It was a thoughtful gesture—something I’d never done for anyone but her. I didn’t send flowers. I didn’t take a woman to dinner or work events. I didn’t call them. I got straight down to business, treated every hookup like a transaction. I rarely let them sleep over, offering to take them home so they would be out of my hair as soon as possible. But with Fleur, I was a different man.

“You didn’t have to do that.”

“I know.” My eyes were transfixed on the beautiful emeralds in her pretty face. Even when she didn’t look her best, she still looked stunning to me. She was so damn alluring she didn’t need big hair and make up to dazzle. She was like the Eiffel Tower—which was still a marvel without the lights. “We can talk about it or not talk about it. I’m here either way.” I barely had serious conversations with Luca about anything substantial, and he was the closest person in my life. But I sat there, eager to hear everything she wanted to share with me. I wanted to hear her story, I wanted to know her mind and her emotions…all kinds of shit I’ve never cared about before.

But fuck, I cared about this girl.

“I don’t understand,” she said quietly. “You aren’t a nice guy, but you’re being awfully nice to me.”

I didn’t reply because I didn’t have that answer. Or maybe I did…just wasn’t ready to deal with it yet.
